GREEK COOKING HOLIDAY VACATIONS - 2011
The ancient Greeks were one of the first to discover the advantages of adding herbs and spices to
their food.  This process was used not only to enhance the tastes, but also  provided medicinal
benefits. Greek food is still to this day, a unique amalgamation of fresh, seasonal ingredients and a
generous blend of these herbs and spices, E.G thyme, rosemary and oregano - which grow all over
Greece. Fish – Greece is surrounded by the Mediterranean sea and has one of the largest coastal
areas of any country in Europe, for this reason fish and shellfish are integral to Greek food. Fresh
seasonal vegetables are also a significant element in traditional Greek cooking. Greek food would not
be Greek without the Olive Oil, nowadays recognised as part of a healthy diet [containing mono -
unsaturated fat] Olives are grown and olive oil produced in many parts of Greece.

AVAILABILITY: 16th APRIL TO 8th OCTOBER 2011

During 2011 all our Greek Cooking activities will operate for arrivals between 16th April and 8th  
October [ subject to availability on each course or holiday Individual Greek cooking sessions are
normally not available during first 3 week of August. If you wish to participate in any of our Greek
cooking activities outside the dates listed above it may be possible to accommodate your request.

Booking are welcome from singles , families or larger groups.

Ever wondered what a Gyros, Baklava, Kleftiko, Souvlaki, Mezethes are ? Even better, would you
like to learn how to make these in a beautiful, friendly and informal setting, using traditional
Greek methods, and then sit down for a traditional Greek dinner that you have prepared.

Your host for all our Greek cooking activities at Odyssey centre is Katerina Sakelliou. Katerina is
passionate about cooking and is interested and knowledgeable in the historical roots of traditional
Greek cooking and she specialises in both traditional and modern Greek cooking. Katerina's skills
have become very sought after and when she is not giving lessons in Poros or preparing and
supervising the meals at Odyssey Bistro in Askeli, she also provides lessons in Greek cooking
throughout other parts of Europe.
Greek Cooking and the Mediterranean diet is probably the healthiest in the world [and very tasty]
We hope that what you learn from participating in any of our Greek cooking activities will last you a
lifetime and provide you with new,exciting, delicious and healthy future - dinners for your family
and friends at your home country on your return from Poros. For your information: Many Greek
cooking specialities are suitable for Vegetarians: We are happy to welcome and accommodate
vegetarian courses.
